We went to the doctor yesterday for some more immunizations and they weighed her on what we consider to be the “official” scale. We were expecting to see a little difference from the 10 lbs 1.8 oz that Jenn captured at Day One on Friday but we were not expecting to suddenly have a 10 lb 9 oz baby. Not only is that a 7 oz gain, but she advanced from 5th to 10th percentile weight group for babies her age (ie she weighs more than 10% of them).
There are a few possible explanations for the big swing:
- The nurse may have previously worked in a shady deli and thinks we pay by the pound.
- Grace is putting on more than 3 oz per day, which translates to more than a pound a week and we are going to need a bigger house.
- Grace is about to have the biggest poop of her career.
- The scales are a little off at Day One.
We never saw the #2 mentioned in #3 so I am going to have to hope for #4.

You may have had a bad scale in the produce department at Safeway.
