We don’t normally see Grace from the inside out but I thought these were so cool that I had to share. This is the result of Grace’s CT scan to make sure her skull hadn’t fused early and her brain had plenty of space to grow. Since that turned out to be no big deal, we are left with pictures that parents rarely get to see. One cool thing (that you can kind of see here) is that there are at least 10 more teeth somewhere beneath those upper gums that will eventually join the two she has up there now. We also have proof of brain and, if we knew how to read those things, we could see that she had an ear infection that day.

Father’s Day at the Zoo
Note: Most the pictures below were taken by Poppy (aka Jim White). Sadly our regular photographer, Lincoln, was not invited to today’s festivities.
We all wondered a little whether a 15month old baby would really “get” the zoo, but we decided that it sounded like a great Father’s Day activity anyway. Grace, Jenn and I were joined by Grandma and Poppy and we were all greeted by a beautiful day in San Francisco.
Any question of her enthusiasm disappeared after Grace’s first spotting sighting of the giraffes.
She pointed, squealed, laughed, danced and deftly ignored her Poppy’s insistence that these were just large and awkward dogs (Poppy will not be home schooling his grand-daughter).
We kept her moving so she could make as many new friends as possible. From the cute and quick (prairie dogs) to the wrinkled and slow (tortoises), from the feathered and noble (eagles) and the low and slithery (below) she loved them all.
Even Bla Bla got to meet some distant relations.
The petting zoo was a particular favorite, where Grace couldn’t stop saying “Baaa” to the woollier among them.
And Grace wasn’t the only one making friends…
We thought Jim might be adopting a brother for Linus.
The day had a few tantrums (mostly from Grace), but without much of a nap, that was to be expected. Especially when we kept pulling her away from her new friends over and over again.
But we figured that those friendships would be quickly forgotten based on her treatment of best-friend Bla Bla when faced with the novelty of a tractor ride.
We will surely be back to the zoo, with our newly minted year-long membership, to see how she likes the things that say “Grrrrr”.
Waaaaaa
This is a pretty good rendition of Grace’s new tantrum habit. Sometimes she looks behind her and carefully gets into position before wailing away. Other times, if the mood is more urgent and spontaneous, she just arches her back and goes for it. Of course, now we have to really think about her positioning before we purposely make her mad.
Rub-a-dub-dub 3 from the tub

We’ve been really bad and really busy for the last 10 days or so with our posting but we are cleaning up our act! To get you all up to speed: Grace has a total of four teeth (nothing new there), she now knows what a cow and a duck say (hint: they are not both “moo”), she can count to one using as many fingers, if you say “I love you” she makes a kissing sound, she loves Goodnight, Moon, she crawls at 100mph but flatly refuses to walk (or even show much interest in it) and she has made solid advances in the temper tantrum department (video to come).
I think those are all the newest developments in the Topliff house. Stay tuned for more as I set free the backlog of posts.
These little piggies went to Neimans
While Jenn was busy returning a purchase at Neiman-Marcus, Grace was busy exploring the store. She started with (surprise) the purses, stopping briefly in front of Prada to put her hand out. I can’t believe that could be genetic, which makes me wonder what goes on while I am at work. From there she quickly searched the store for her friends at the makeup counter, where she pulled up a chair.
They weren’t allowed to put lipstick on this kid but by the time we left, she had 10 pinky toes (and really needed a bath).
Photo Break
Haven’t had time to post, so this is to remind you that Grace is still cute.
